Authentication Errors

In the username field make sure the correct username is displayed.
This will normally be your full email address i.e. ecowash@gn.apc.org
If you have a group login, it may be something like grnecowash@gn.apc.org .
Your password will be displayed in asterisks in the password field. Try re-typing it.
If type in your password each time you log on, make sure you don't have the caps lock or shift keys activated, remember passwords are case sensitive.

'There has been an error transferring your mail. I said Pass and the pop server said. Err password supplied for "ecowash" is incorrect'.

You may be typing in the wrong password.

Close Eudora. Open Eudora again and type in your passord again. Check that the caps lock and shift keys are not activated while you are typing and try typing your password in again

ERR /usr/mail/.ecowash.pop lock busy! Is another session active?

If you are disconnected unexpectedly while you are downloading your mail you must wait about five minutes before reconnecting and trying to download you mail again. To protect you emails, the GreenNet mail server 'locks' them for a short time to prevent any damage occurring to them. This error can also occur if you try to download you mail immediately after a 'timeout' error (see below)

This message may also mean you have a large email message blocking your email account. Phone GreenNet support to find out 0845 0554011

-ERR POP timeout' or 'Eudora is tired of waiting…..'

The most common cause of pop timeouts are large email attachments. Large files can be too big for your computer to deal with and the download will stall. After a certain time, anything from 45 secs to 10 mins your computer will stop the download. Do not attempt to download your mail again immediately after a timeout message or you will get a 'pop lock busy error' see previous error

If you have a different problem, see if you can find an answer on GreenNet's Support Forums (or post a new question!).
